Some new apparel design I've been working on. This is a bit of a walk through of the entire process from start to finish... Or finish to start... The subject I was given was "Fox Pirate".
Howdy! Interested in some recent projects of mine? Well here ya go!
Prince of Thieves
This piece is a mock-up logo design based on Robin Hood. Was initially working it out as an Illustration and gradually modified it into a logo design. Kept a very simple color palette and was just looking to have fun with a project.
Where There's Smoke...
This is a WIP but something I'd like to share. Part 1 of a 2 piece series of "Where There's Smoke..." and "...There's Fire"
So I've recently enjoyed working out some T-Shirt designs to build up my portfolio. This is the beginning of the Apparel journey I'll be taking.
A quick background on this image. I ran with a Zombie theme and worked around the title "Eat It". Kept it fairly straightforward and will continue to do this with future designs for the time being.
For those of you that want to keep up on my process as I work through future projects, I regularly update my Twitter with snapshots of in-progress works.
Enjoy!
Below is an Inked version I managed to toss as I wasn't happy with the Stippling effect.
Number 3 on day 3. Enjoy! Also, this will be my last for the week as I'll be heading out of town tomorrow. I'll pick up where I left off at the beginning of next week though, so keep an eye out for future Illustrations!
I'm currently doing a series of images based around the title "GOREFEST". Skipping past all that PG-13 stuff and going for the guts of the hard "R" rating. I'm trying to go over the type while staying within this Gory/Sexual/Drug infused theme.
If you want to see my progress throughout each day follow my Twitter account (On the right)
Something I've been working on throughout the week, messing around with different textures a bit. It's a helmet for a goaltender that retired from the NHL years ago nicknamed "The Beezer", which explains all the bees.
Well, I have been busy doing some commercial freelance work and have had little time to work on personal projects. I have three separate personal ones going on at the moment and the one below is my focus for now. I'm in the early stages of creating 5 characters for a concept art project and have 1 character finished and 1 ready to be drawn out and painted. The last project, the long comic project I mentioned earlier, is getting pushed back a bit as I work on more marketable projects and my story needs some re working anyways.
Here is a project based off of the famous "Shark Week" and my current inspiration of music with a bit of tribal vibe to it.
Here is a project I just finished not too long ago for a gallery show in Boston. My old roommate Wesley Eggebrecht has started up a clothing line which had a launch party at a gallery that including some 30 paper toys designed by 30 different artists. You can check out his site which has links to Facebook, Twitter and all that. Friend, Like, Add, do what you gotta do to follow this because it's gonna be good.

I should have a couple more projects up soon and am in the writing process of a 22 page comic. That's a bit of a ways away at this point though.
Alright, where to start. The majority of this work has been posted at other sites I frequently drop by. Sites like The Hallway Show, 36Pyramids, and others. I'll be posting some more stuff I've done soon as well, but I wanted to go the bulk of it out there. Most of it is sketches and quick portraits, a few are projects I did while interning at Root Learning and some are Illustrations for freelance jobs or personal work.
If you, or anyone you know, is interested in what they see and has some project that needs an Illustrator shoot me an e-mail at matthewbyle@gmail.com
Zombies! A new illustration I did, was originally going to be my skatedeck design but I scratched it and ran with the whale theme. I love zombies almost as much as I love whales though. Tried a few new things here and there on it but mostly just a piece to add to the portfolio.
Just finished up another deck, Digital one this time. It will be printed through Mobil Skateboards and should be at the Party on the 14th so stop by and pick one up!
New Illustration I just finished up for fun, the topic "Zach and the Doombots" was over at conceptart.org and I felt compelled to do an illustration with it.
